Best partnership practices of NGOs with local authorities in advocacy Ukrainian refugees’ issues
Focus area/objective:
The project focuses on analyzing best practices of partnership of NGOs with local authorities in advocacy of Ukrainian forced (war) migrants’ issues.
The aim of the project is to collect, discuss, analyze and spread the best practices of NGOs in Visegrad group countries in promoting active lobbying for policy change and good governance of Ukrainian refugees’ issues on local levels.
The countries of the Visegrad Group faced complex problems caused by the massive flows of Ukrainian war migrants, seeking protection and assistance after the full-scale Russian invasion. Lack of experience in such refugee response and extreme need to make quick decisions led to the fact that policymakers were not successful in some solutions. In this state of emergency NGOs came to the rescue of local state institutions. Therefore, within the framework of the project, the experience of lobbying the interests of Ukrainian war migrants in selected V4 countries are analyzed, as well as the analysis and description of the best practices of partnership of NGOs with local authorities are being carried out. A methodology developed by IIEC and its partners are to be used to search, select, describe and analyze the best practices. The execution of the project involves the following stages: 1) three workshops with the participation of representatives of NGOs and state authorities on local levels to collect and discuss examples of the best practice, which are to be held in the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia; 2) creation of a report of the best practices – policy paper; 3) a symposium to present and discuss the policy paper and disseminate the examples of these best practices among stockholders, which is to be held in Ukraine. The created policy paper is planned to be useful predominantly for the implementation of effective solutions to cope with Ukrainian refugees’ issues in the V4 countries, Ukraine, and for other European countries.
